GRAVITYPilates®

Joseph H. Pilates gave the world an intuitive, visionary exercise method. GRAVITYPilates, with the multi-level incline plane resistance provided by GTS®, gives Pilates participants the ability to perform exercises more efficiently and effectively for greater, faster results.

Traditional… with a slant.

GRAVITYPilates offers traditional Pilates mat and reformer repertoires and then blends them with new evolved Pilates-based exercises that are specific to the GTS®. The assistance technology provided by the GTS incline allows participants to achieve traditionally advanced exercises at earlier stages in their training, thereby creating an environment for participants to feel success quickly. This innovative approach, with its progressive levels of challenge and natural assistance mechanism, nullifies the need for modifications—even in clients who lack flexibility and strength—and actually enhances the potential outcome of the Pilates Method.

Invigorating the body, mind and spirit.

The time-honored principles of breath, alignment and control developed by Pilates are central to GRAVITYPilates programming. Improving body awareness, spinal alignment, strength, flexibility and neuromuscular control remain its key goals.

Contemporary scientific knowledge has increased our understanding of functional, multi-plane movement, biomechanics and muscle adaptation. This understanding applied with GRAVITYPilates, provides greater variety in an advanced program, especially for the seasoned Pilates disciple, while allowing seamless transitions between mat, reformer and Cadillac exercises.

Fusion of iron and wood.

Something new has emerged in perfect harmony to the health club, studio or wellness environment. The transition between Pilates and strength training is both easy and approachable on GTS. Members who, in the past, might have avoided either discipline, for fear of failure or loss of machismo, now discover they can succeed quickly in both. The structure of GRAVITYPilates programming helps make it a dynamic draw for both parties. A wealth of information-rich courses, easy-to-follow manuals and teaching aids make GRAVITYPilates an instructor’s surest path to success.

Launching GRAVITYPilates

There are three GRAVITYPilates courses that are available, each with a foundation stage and three stages of exercise sequencing for progressive training and program freshness.

Reformat Evolved Series is a combination of movements from the mat and reformer repertoires, as well as Pilates evolved exercises unique to the GTS. It is the preferred launch program for GRAVITYPilates because it utilizes accessories like the Telescoping Toe Bar and Leg Pulley System, and requires only mat certification. Yet, it looks, feels, and acts like the traditional repertoire.

Reformat Matwork Series is the traditional Pilates mat repertoire and utilizes the GTS glideboard as a slanted rolling floor to assist the client without introducing modifications to the exercise. As a client progresses, the glideboard is lowered until it is parallel with the floor. Accessories like the Leg Pulley System allow for unilateral and bilateral leg circles with resistance, for greater abdominal and glut recruitment. Mat instructors love the quick success their clients experience.

Reformat Corework Series consists of the traditional reformer repertoire. The GTS® allows for a constant load of resistance during each movement, thereby offering an alternative to Pilates devotees who have reached a plateau. Participants can push past the inertia caused by muscle adaptation to the resistance mechanism provided by spring reformers. Only reformer certified instructors should teach the Reformat Corework Series.
