Trainer Tips
Finding Time to Train

With your own Total Gym at home, there’s no commute to your workout and no waiting in line for equipment. Still, finding the time to exercise takes a little planning. Here are four tips to help you carve 20 to 30 minutes, three or four times a week, out of your busy schedule:

1. Make sure exercising is as convenient as possible. If you can, leave your Total Gym set up or have a convenient spot clear for it. Keep your exercise clothing and shoes ready.

2. Work several muscles or major muscle groups in one exercise. This is especially easy with Total Gym because almost every exercise (whether it focuses on legs, arms, chest or back or shoulders) also challenges the core.

3. Limit resting time. There are two approaches to this. Either group a series of like exercises together, then rest, or train opposing muscle groups without resting in between. Be sure to choose muscle groups that are physically close together such as biceps and triceps, chest and back or quadriceps and hamstrings.

4. If you find yourself inclined to sabotage your workout time, take one small action. When that internal voice says “I don’t have enough time,” simply get on the Total Gym and do one exercise. You may find yourself doing another and perhaps even another. As days go by, you are likely to find yourself building a strong and healthy new habit of regular exercise.
